Helen Blamires

Veterinary Nurse

Helen qualified as a vet nurse in 1998 whilst working at a large mixed practice in Kent. She enjoyed mentoring student nurses through their studies and completed her assessor training in 1999. Having an interest in physical therapy she qualified as both a human and animal chiropractor, predominantly working with event horses competing at international level.

In 2009, she combined her RVN and chiropractic skills and joined a team, as neurology research nurse, investigating spinal cord injury in dogs at the University of Cambridge. At the end of the clinical trial, Helen took up a surgical nursing position at the vet school to focus on her love of surgery, anaesthesia and supporting vet students through their clinical year. She has a particular interest in theatre nursing and the role of infection control procedures in the hospital environment.

Helen enjoyed working with Gareth and Valentina at QVSH so joined the team at Arthurs Veterinary Specialists in April 2023.

Outside of work Helen enjoys gardening, photography, cooking and travelling.
