I cannot recommend Gareth more highly. Our springer spaniel Charlie was referred to him by Vets4Pets. Charlie had been limping for some time and Vets4Pets had identified arthritis. From the first meeting I could immediately tell that Charlie would be in safe hands. Gareth was extremely thorough in his initial examination and explained the options available in terms that, as a layman, I could easily understand. The costs were clearly detailed so I felt well informed about our options but, furthermore, Gareth provided a really comprehensive summary in writing of what we had discussed and the options which is invaluable if you are as forgetful as me!
I had a number of questions after the initial consultation and Gareth would always answer my e-mails very promptly giving further information or calling me if it was something that needed a discussion to explain. This responsiveness was mirrored throughout the whole process and was so reassuring.
We opted to have a CT scan which confirmed what Gareth had suspected as well as a “fractured radio-carpal bone” which was causing the limp. We elected to go for the “pancarpal arthrodesis” which Gareth explained to me would be fusing the lower limb as his initial examination had identified a larger than normal range of movement in his wrist joint.
Gareth kept us informed on the day of the procedure regarding how things had gone. We were also kept fully informed post op when he was keen to tell us how Charlie was behaving to see if this was typical. Post operation care was critical and this was really clearly described to us as to what to do and again this was set out in writing as well. We were really nervous about caring for Charlie after the operation and I was massively impressed by how much time Gareth took to answer any questions we had regarding how things were healing as well as allowing us to send images to make sure all looked well!
10 weeks on Charlie is doing fantastically well. He has had an x-ray and the operation has been successful. He is so keen to get off the lead and we are looking forward to eventually being able to do that for the time in several months.
Throughout this time Gareth has been extremely clear, transparent about costs and, most importantly, is clearly highly skilled in his field. Huge thank you from us and, of course, Charlie.
