Unfortunately she fell on our stairs and a quick X-ray at our local vets showed Beata had broken her Elbow (an incomplete ossification of the Humeral Condyle) the accident happened on the Thursday before the Bank Holiday weekend.
I’m very grateful the entire team worked hard through their own time (giving up their own holidays, in order to repair Beyatta’s Elbow.
The surgery went well, and Beyatta faced extended crate rest to allow healing.
The whole experience was traumatic but ultimately rewarding, as Beyatta has (touch wood) made an uneventful, perfect recovery, thanks to the hard work of the Team at Arthur’s Veterinary Specialist Referrals. Thank you very much much indeed, for your dedication, skill, and hard work.read more

As well as a list of qualifications which speak for themselves, Gareth is both personable and caring whilst also taking a great deal of pride in the work he and his team does. Costs were kept open and transparent at all stages of the process.

OUTSTANDING and PROFESSIONAL
Our dog was hit by a van, which resulted in... an
infected wound and destroyed ankle
ligaments.
Several Vets had told us that we would have
to amputate our dogs leg. As this was not an
option for us, we contacted Arthur's veterinary
specialists.
With the extremely advanced expertise of
Professor Garth Arthurs, he was able to save
our dogs leg.
If it were not for Gareth and his team at
Arthurs Veterinary Specialists, our dog would
have lost his leg.
We really cannot thank you enough! And will
be forever grateful!!!!!!read more

Jake was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia and... shortly after this he had keyhole surgery (left elbow arthroscopy and medial Coronoidectomy)
The service we received from Gareth, Sam and the team was excellent from start to finish. The staff were very friendly, supportive and helpful. Gareth communicated every aspect of the plan and explained every step of the process to ensure Jake received high quality care.
Thank you so much for your kindness and care for Jake. We wish you every success. Michelle & Jakeread more
I’m a Registered Veterinary Nurse with particular interest in /experience of referral orthopaedics. I’ve known Gareth in a professional capacity for a number of years but I have never been on this side of the fence before, as an owner whose dog is needing a major orthopaedic procedure. I can 100% say that Gareth is the safest possible hands - so much so I chose to travel from Derbyshire to Northampton in order that Gareth be the one to do the surgery for Bert.
From initial contact when referral was looking likely, through to discharge of Bert after surgery, every aspect of communication and care has been completely professional and very easy, and conducted with an obvious genuine interest in, and care for, both the patient and the owner. Bert was not the easiest of patients while hospitalised, but every effort was made to keep him calm and make him feel safe. Hats off to the overnight nursing team in particular - I’m fully aware of how difficult he can be, so many thanks to you too!
I’d have no hesitation in recommending Gareth and his team to any owner needing to consider an orthopaedic referral for their pet. I worked in the field of veterinary orthopaedic referrals for more than 5 years and I can honestly say that Gareth is one of the kindest, most compassionate and straightforward specialists in his field. Huge thanks from Bert and from me.

I cannot recommend Gareth and the team enough. They are kind, considerate and just amazing - to humans and pets alike.
Gareth performed double TPLO on my little Westie last year. I was obviously concerned as she was 13. But I needn’t have been. She recovered amazingly and is still running around at 14.5!! Her recovery is beyond my wildest dreams!
If your dog needs TPLO - then Gareth is your guy! I recommend without hesitation.
I only wish I could post a video of her running on here!
The magic team! Our puppy broke his leg and he was in the best possible hands with Arthurs Venetriary Speacialists. We cannot be more grateful enough to Gareth, Valentina and the rest of the team. We always knew what was happening, we were updated every step of the way and after care is amazing. They are just wonderful. Thank you so much for all your care for our little Borsó. He's ready to steal shoes and toilet rolls again 😂🩵
Absolutely would recommend Gareth without hesitation. After treating our Red Fox labrador for elbow dysplasia.
Every step in her treatment was clearly communicated to us in a friendly and understandable way.
We felt at ease in leaving our very sensitive dog in his hands.
A big thankyou to Gareth and his team. 5 Stars 🌟 all round.
My whole experience with Gareth and the team at Arthurs was great (despite it obviously being a stressful time!). They were able to see my cat right away, and I was so grateful to them for treating him right away too. Gareth was very good at calming my nerves and making a stressful situation a lot easier. Both he and the rest of the team were incredibly communicative throughout the few days my cat was in having surgery on each hip. He has now been recovering for the last 6 or so weeks and I am SO happy with the surgery and his progress. He is now back to the fun, active, playful and mischievous cat he was before he started to have issues in his hindlegs. I'm so grateful to Gareth and his team for not only taking away my boy's pain but for also treating him (and me) with so much care and empathy. Thank you everyone at Arthurs Vets! From Mel & Viserion 🙂
Hello, my name is Chyulu (Chew-loo) and I am a nine month old springer spaniel.
In the autumn of last year my front left leg started hurting and made me lame. My mum took me to the vet and I had to have two weeks rest with pain killers. This helped for a few days but then the pain and limp returned!
Mum took me back to the vet where I had to rest more and have pain killers for a further two weeks. The vet suggested further investigation and this meant an x-ray and a scan. The latter showed that both my elbows had a problem. I was diagnosed with a congenital condition called elbow dysplasia.
To enable me to have a good active life I needed major surgery
- A screw in both elbows
- An arthroscopy to remove a small fragment of broken bone in the left elbow joint
- The ulna bone cut in the left leg in order to
release the pressure on the joint.
Where we live the cost to do this surgery is truly eye watering! It was put to us to consider looking elsewhere and that is when we were referred to Arthurs Veterinary Specialists in Towcester near Northampton.
Two weeks before Christmas we drove to Towcester to meet Gareth Arthurs and the team.
After examination and consultation it was agreed surgery was definitely required. A week was needed to enable operative guides to be made. These make surgical procedure more accurate and easier.
A week later we returned for the surgery.
I had my surgery and I know Gareth updated Mum regularly as to how I was doing. All the team were caring and helpful, and all Mum's pre and post operative instructions were very clear and easily understandable to help my care at home and recovery.
Last week I had my final check up with an x-ray and consultation. Gareth was pleased with progress although I do have to do more weeks of lead walks and to keep my instinct to spring around under control!
Mum says she feels comfortable and is pleased by the care and support we were given. She knows she can get in touch if she is worried about anything in my progress. She says she would happily recommend Arthur's Veterinary Specialists to help any other animals needing veterinary care.
In our case the long journey was worth the effort to get excellent care.
Thank you Gareth Arthurs.
