Unfortunately she fell on our stairs and a quick X-ray at our local vets showed Beata had broken her Elbow (an incomplete ossification of the Humeral Condyle) the accident happened on the Thursday before the Bank Holiday weekend.
I’m very grateful the entire team worked hard through their own time (giving up their own holidays, in order to repair Beyatta’s Elbow.
The surgery went well, and Beyatta faced extended crate rest to allow healing.
The whole experience was traumatic but ultimately rewarding, as Beyatta has (touch wood) made an uneventful, perfect recovery, thanks to the hard work of the Team at Arthur’s Veterinary Specialist Referrals. Thank you very much much indeed, for your dedication, skill, and hard work.read more
Gareth and his team have been so wonderful and compassionate with Yogi, regular updates throughout the day and evening.

However the difference in care was evident straight away. I received so much information
from what was found pre op, details of what was done during the op and then all the post op care instructions in great detail. For someone that needs ‘details’ it was perfect!
I highly recommend and so does Charli (pictured!)read more
As well as a list of qualifications which speak for themselves, Gareth is both personable and caring whilst also taking a great deal of pride in the work he and his team does. Costs were kept open and transparent at all stages of the process.
Highly recommend!!read more
OUTSTANDING and PROFESSIONAL
Our dog was hit by a van, which resulted in... an
infected wound and destroyed ankle
ligaments.
Several Vets had told us that we would have
to amputate our dogs leg. As this was not an
option for us, we contacted Arthur's veterinary
specialists.
With the extremely advanced expertise of
Professor Garth Arthurs, he was able to save
our dogs leg.
If it were not for Gareth and his team at
Arthurs Veterinary Specialists, our dog would
have lost his leg.
We really cannot thank you enough! And will
be forever grateful!!!!!!read more

We received a wonderful quality of treatment and clear costings which really helped at a stressful time, well worth the travelling, thank you.read more

Jake was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia and... shortly after this he had keyhole surgery (left elbow arthroscopy and medial Coronoidectomy)
The service we received from Gareth, Sam and the team was excellent from start to finish. The staff were very friendly, supportive and helpful. Gareth communicated every aspect of the plan and explained every step of the process to ensure Jake received high quality care.
Thank you so much for your kindness and care for Jake. We wish you every success. Michelle & Jakeread more
I’m a Registered Veterinary Nurse with particular interest in /experience of referral orthopaedics. I’ve known Gareth in a professional capacity for a number of years but I have never been on this side of the fence before, as an owner whose dog is needing a major orthopaedic procedure. I can 100% say that Gareth is the safest possible hands - so much so I chose to travel from Derbyshire to Northampton in order that Gareth be the one to do the surgery for Bert.
From initial contact when referral was looking likely, through to discharge of Bert after surgery, every aspect of communication and care has been completely professional and very easy, and conducted with an obvious genuine interest in, and care for, both the patient and the owner. Bert was not the easiest of patients while hospitalised, but every effort was made to keep him calm and make him feel safe. Hats off to the overnight nursing team in particular - I’m fully aware of how difficult he can be, so many thanks to you too!
I’d have no hesitation in recommending Gareth and his team to any owner needing to consider an orthopaedic referral for their pet. I worked in the field of veterinary orthopaedic referrals for more than 5 years and I can honestly say that Gareth is one of the kindest, most compassionate and straightforward specialists in his field. Huge thanks from Bert and from me.

Our dog Jake has been under the care of Gareth since he diagnosed him with elbow dysplasia. Gareth has been amazing with Jake and is always so caring with him. We recently booked an appointment as I was worried about Jakes leg. Gareth examined Jake and after was able to explain our options clearly. Gareth has been nothing but professional and compassionate in dealing with Jake and I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone. Thank you 😀
My 10 year old Lurcher, Bert had a TPLO operation in Jan 22 due to a cruciate injury.
I can not fault the care and service provided by Arthurs Veterinary Specialists. The initial consult was very thorough and Gareth took time to ensure I completely understood the options, what the operation would consist of, the costs involved and the after care and recovery required.
The day of the operation went smoothly with great communication, a detailed hand over with what to expect throughout the day, a telephone call from Gareth post operation to confirm all was well and explain what had been carried out. The collection hand over was again very thorough with great aftercare instructions from the team and a good explanation of what I could expect to see happening over the next few days and weeks.
The post op notes provided were fantastic. Bert’s physio commented that they were the most in depth post op notes she had seen which made it much easier for her to devise an effective rehabilitation physio plan.
I received a telephone call from the team after a few days to check that recovery was proceeding as it should be and the recovery continued to go smoothly. The 8 week post op x-rays were carried out to confirm healing was proceeding as expected and further instructions received on the next few weeks of recovery.
Overall, the whole experience was made as easy as possible, with great communication throughout and fantastic customer service. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Arthurs Veterinary Specialists to anyone looking for an orthopaedic specialist and have already done so. My physio was also so impressed she has also recommended them!
Bert has made an excellent recovery and is doing really well and back to enjoying his walks again. Thank you to everyone at AVS involved.
Our 3 year old Pug had been suffering from patellar luxation in his hind leg which was gradually getting worse. He underwent corrective surgery in January 2022 with Gareth after a consultation and X-rays. I’m a nervous dog owner but throughout this whole experience I have felt informed and secure. The staff at Arthurs are always friendly and very helpful. Pugsley had to stay overnight following his operation, the night nurse called with an update late at night and again in the morning. Gareth has been on hand to provide support throughout the recovery period which has been most appreciated. Most importantly, Pugsley has made a brilliant recovery, the scar on his leg is minimal considering the operation and Gareth’s work has changed Pugsley’s life. In a few months he’ll be back to running around on the beach! Can’t thank everyone at Arthurs enough.
My Lowchen Derek had TPLO surgery with Gareth in August of this year. I was really nervous about it because of the length of recovery and the risk of problems. Gareth explained all these really clearly and gave me a great deal of reassurance. The operation itself was a success and Derek has made a really quick recovery. At 8 weeks post op he has minimal lameness and appears almost back to his old self.
The follow up care has been great and I have found Gareth to be really responsive to any queries I have had. He has always responded quickly to emails and has allowed me to send videos of Derek’s progress so that I know everything is on track.
I would definitely recommend this surgery with Arthurs Orthopaedics.
Millie our 9 year old cockapoo became lame with a torn cruciate ligament. She had the same problem 3 years ago with her other leg. (a design fault with this model!).
Gareth was then working for a different practice and he undertook TPLO surgery and fixed her leg. An excellent job and you wouldn't know she had ever had a problem. When the other leg ligament went it was with no hesitation to track down Gareth who had now started his own business, Arthurs Orthopaedics and get him to fix things.
The new practice was amazing. Really caring helpful service. So clever to do this complicated and detailed operation and to have my supper, bouncy, fun loving dog back and running about on all four legs.
I can not thank and praise Gareth and Arthurs Orthopaedics enough.
