Caring For You and Your Pet

Being told your pet needs to see a specialist can feel overwhelming. We are here to make every step from referral, to consultation, treatment and recovery. Clear, calm and supportive.

The Referral

Your own vet knows your pet best. When they feel a specialist opinion would help, they refer you to us and we take it from there.

Once your vet sends a referral, our team contacts you directly to arrange a convenient appointment. Your pet’s history, X-rays and notes are sent to us in advance, so we already know your case before you arrive.

There is nothing complicated for you to do. We answer any early questions, explain what to bring, and make sure you feel prepared. Your own vet stays involved throughout we work alongside them, not instead of them.

Consultations

A calm, unhurried appointment where we examine your pet, talk through the options, and answer every question you have.

Your specialist will spend time with you and your pet. We carry out a thorough orthopaedic examination, review imaging and all information provided from your vet, give you options as to how to proceed, and when possible, a recommendation of what we think is the best option for you and your pet.

This may be a recommendation for surgery, but frequently no surgery is recommended.

Diagnostic Imaging

Most patients that we see need X-rays, or a CT scan, or possibly biopsies.

These enable us to make a specific diagnosis; or we acquire images that we use to plan surgery as accurately and precisely as possible.

This is essential before any surgical procedure.

Orthopaedic Surgery

Orthopaedic surgery is what we will recommend and perform if it is in the best interest of your pet, and you agree this is what you want to do.

On the day of surgery, your pet is admitted by a familiar face, monitored continuously by our experienced clinical team, and recovers in a quiet, comfortable ward.

We call you immediately after surgery to let you know how things have gone.

Recovery & Aftercare

From the day of treatment through every step at home, your pet and you are looked after by a team that genuinely cares.

We make sure your pet recovers safely and comfortably from the sedation or general anaesthetic. Many patients go home the same day as surgery, some the next day.

When your pet comes home, you are not on your own. We provide clear written aftercare instructions, structured rehabilitation guidance, and follow-up appointments to check progress. Our team is just a phone call away if anything worries you.

Most pets make excellent recoveries. We share progress updates with your own vet so your usual practice can support you locally throughout.

You Are Not Alone

A few of the questions owners ask us most often answered honestly and clearly.

Will I know what it costs?

Yes. After the consultation we provide a written estimate covering every step. If anything changes during treatment, we discuss it with you first.

Can I phone if I am worried?

Always. During recovery, you can speak to a member of our team — we would much rather you call than wonder.

Does my own vet stay involved?

Absolutely. We keep your vet fully informed throughout and they remain your pet's primary practice for ongoing day-to-day care.

Is my pet in good hands?

Our team is small, experienced and entirely focused on orthopaedic care. We treat every patient as we would our own.

A Cat Friendly Clinic

We hold Gold-level Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation from the International Society of Feline Medicine, awarded for the way the whole practice is set up around the needs of cats.

Cats are unique

A trip to a veterinary practice asks a great deal of a cat, and we plan around that from the moment you arrive.

  • Many cats travel poorly and feel vulnerable away from home.
  • Unfamiliar sights, sounds and smells become overwhelming quickly.
  • Most cats prefer quiet and solitude, and stress builds fast.
  • Dogs nearby in a waiting area are a significant source of anxiety.
  • Cats need to be handled slowly, gently and on their own terms.

What Gold accreditation means

Cat Friendly Clinic status is assessed across the entire practice. To reach Gold, a clinic has to show that its team:

  • Understands feline behaviour and has adapted the clinic environment to suit it.
  • Approaches and handles cats calmly, using techniques that reduce fear and stress.
  • Has the knowledge and equipment to care for cats to a consistently high standard.

Accreditation involves the whole team, from reception through to our surgeons. We also have a designated Cat Advocate, a member of staff responsible for upholding these standards day to day and always happy to talk through any concerns you have about your cat's visit.
