Humeral Condylar Fissure

Humeral Condylar Fissure (HCF / HIF / IOHC) is a fissure between the two halves of the humeral condyle in the elbow, typically in Spaniel breeds. A transcondylar screw is the current standard treatment to stabilise the fissure and prevent fracture.

Diagnostic Imaging

Advanced in-house imaging for accurate diagnosis and surgical planning - CT, ultrasound, digital X-ray and cardiac imaging available as outpatient services or as part of a full work-up.

TPLO

TPLO (Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy) is a surgery for treating dogs with cranial cruciate ligament rupture of the stifle (knee) joint. We recommend it as the most reliable procedure to restore excellent, near-normal limb function.

Pantarsal Arthrodesis

Pantarsal arthrodesis is surgical fusion of the ankle joint (tarsus). It is a definitive salvage surgery for problems such as fractures, instability, chronic arthritis or osteochondrosis of the tarsus, performed when no better option exists.

Fracture Management

Skilled fracture repair using the latest techniques including plating, external fixation and minimally invasive surgery for the best possible recovery.

Elbow Dysplasia

Elbow dysplasia and secondary arthritis is a hereditary condition affecting many medium and large breed dogs. It is a spectrum of diseases; management ranges from conservative care to arthroscopic and salvage surgery.

Shoulder Arthrodesis

This is surgical fusion of the shoulder joint. It is rarely performed; but indications would be severe shoulder fracture, dislocation, malformation or arthritis.

Hip Dysplasia

Hip dysplasia is a common orthopaedic problem of dogs, especially medium to giant breeds, caused by abnormal development of the hip joint in the puppy. Both surgical and non-surgical treatments are available.

Arthritis Management

Arthritis is an inevitable consequence of many joint conditions. While there is no cure, its symptoms can be controlled through weight management, exercise, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and medication.

Pancarpal Arthrodesis

Pancarpal arthrodesis is surgical fusion of the wrist joint (carpus). It is the definitive salvage surgery for fractures, instability, pain or inflammation of the carpus when no better option exists.

Specialist orthopaedic surgery for dogs and cats — from cruciate disease and patellar luxation to total hip replacement, fracture repair and joint fusion, planned and carried out by an experienced surgical team.

Shoulder Osteochondrosis

Shoulder osteochondrosis is an uncommon developmental condition of medium and large breed dogs where cartilage and bone on the humeral head fail to develop normally, causing forelimb lameness. Surgery to remove the loose flap gives excellent results in most dogs.

Hip Luxation

Hip luxation means a dislocated hip. This is usually caused by a traumatic event such as a fall, landing awkwardly, or being hit by a motor vehicle.

Partial Tarsal Arthrodesis

Partial tarsal arthrodesis is surgical fusion of the foot of the hindlimb, but does not include the ankle joint.

Shoulder Luxation

Shoulder luxation means a dislocated shoulder. This is quite rare in dogs and cats, and is usually caused by a traumatic event such as a fall, landing awkwardly, or being hit by a motor vehicle.

FHEA Surgery

Femoral head and neck excision (FHNE / FHEA) removes the femoral head to relieve pain from a diseased hip. It is a relatively simple, inexpensive treatment option for painful hips where Total Hip Replacement is not chosen or possible.

Hock Osteochondrosis

Hock osteochondrosis (OCD) is a hereditary developmental condition that uncommonly affects the hock (ankle) of medium and large breed dogs, where cartilage and bone of the talus fails to develop properly, causing lameness and arthritis.

Total Hip Replacement

Total Hip Replacement (THR) is a treatment choice for dogs or cats with hip dysplasia, hip arthritis, hip fracture or a dislocated hip. It is the gold standard for achieving the best possible pain-free function in a diseased hip.

Patellar Luxation

Patellar luxation is a dislocating knee-cap, where the knee-cap slips out of its groove in the femur. It is a developmental condition of dogs and cats; surgery can resolve the lameness where the problem is frequent or not minor.
