Independent Clinic

Arthurs Veterinary Specialists is 100% independent

We aim to do everything we can to have the best possible working environment, so everybody has great job satisfaction, are fully engaged and invested. We all work together to provide the best possible care for your pet, every single day.
Our ethos is to offer the best possible care to our patients, and to share the success of our workplace with our colleagues (staff) who work hard every day and help to grow and develop our practice.

As a background, until the early 2010s, almost all veterinary clinics in the UK were owned by the senior veterinary surgeons that worked there, either as partnerships or as limited companies. This meant that the clinic owners were very close to everyday problems and challenges of the clinic, and able to make quick decisions to progress their practices when they needed to be made.

However, things have changed rapidly over the last decade; now a very large number of veterinary clinics, including almost all referral / specialist clinics are owned by large corporate groups i.e. they are no longer independent.

It can be very difficult for the public and pet owners to understand if a veterinary clinic is independent or corporate owned; you may have to look very carefully at the practice documents or website small print to get this information.

Who owns the veterinary clinic that is caring for your pet? Does it matter?

It matters to us that we are independent and we are committed to staying independent! We are proud to be one of the very few independent specialist level referral practices in the UK.

For you the pet owner, us being independent allows us to offer you a more flexible and personalised service for your pet.
