Joanna qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 1991 whilst working at a small animal practice in London. It was here she developed her interest in surgery and anaesthesia leading her to gain the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (surgical) in 1999. In 2000 she travelled around Australia and New Zealand before settling in Sydney where she worked as a Senior Surgical Nurse at a multi-disciplinary specialist centre, where she was responsible for overseeing the surgical department.

Joanna returned to the UK in 2006 and joined a small animal first opinion/referral practice in Northampton where she continued her career as a surgical nurse, with special interest in orthopaedics, radiography and anaesthesia. Over the years, Joanna has worked in a Northamptonshire surgical referral practice with responsibilities for anaesthesia and anaesthetic training, advanced surgical nursing, and training student nurses and helping prepare them for their examinations.

Outside of work Joanna enjoys spending time with her two children and laid-back cat ‘Rudi’.

She enjoys playing squash and is trying to improve her running, hoping for a place in the London Marathon soon.
